The Science Education Tracker (SET 2019) is the second wave of a survey series that began in 2016 (SET 2016 - see SN 8119). The survey series is commissioned by Wellcome, with additional funding from the Department for Education (DfE), United Kingdom Research and Innovation (UKRI) and the Royal Society. The survey provides evidence on key indicators for science engagement, education and career aspirations among young people in England. It also provides evidence to support specific areas of interest for Wellcome and their funding partners. The survey is based on a nationally representative sample of 6,409 young people in school years 7 to 13 (aged 11-18) attending state-funded schools in England. Fieldwork was conducted online between 13 July and 2 September 2019, by Kantar. The SET 2019 survey was broader in scope than the SET 2016 survey and covered an expanded age range and larger sample. More information about this survey can be found on the Wellcome Science Education Tracker 2019 webpage.
