Spanish ICP-Forests Level II Plots Network (Plot code 10 Ppa) - Spain

The Intensive Monitoring of Forest Ecosystems (ICP-Forests Level II network) consists currently in 14 monitoring plots representing important Spanish Forest Ecosystems distributed throughout the Spanish mainland showing the most common forest situations of each country and representing rare or endemic situations.

The plot 10 Ppa represents a Pinus pinea pine forest located in the East of the Iberian peninsula. It is a 41-60 years old monospecific regular high forest. It has a quite uniform scrub layer, with little herbaceous layer. Climatic gradient is Thermomediterranean. Topography is flat. Soil is sandy (sub-coastal), type is Gleyc Arenosol but with moderate drainage as there is a very shallow water table.
