Integrated monitoring manual. Integrated Monitoring (ICP IM) | slu.se

Foliage was sampled from (pre-)dominant trees of Norway spruce (Picea abies (L.) H. Karst.) and European beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) at points (SCODE 1-80) which are regularly distributed on a 100x100 m grid covering the entire study area (90 ha) and at the intensively monitoring plots IP1 on the plateau (SCODE = 251-299) and IP2 on the slope (SCODE =5001-5018). All sample trees of the grid points were located close to the forest inventory and the 100 m² vegetation plot. A set of the selected trees was sampled each year. In case of disturbance or low vitality, new sample trees in close vicinity to prior ones were chosen. Sampling was conducted from August to October in the years 1992-2003, 2004 (subsample of spruce trees) and 2006. For spruce, the current year (C) and previous year (P) needles were sampled.
