TN, TC, TOC, and CaCO3 of sediment cores from the Northeast Atlantic (MSM96)

DOI

Samples were collected during cruise MSM96 in 2020. Samples were freeze-dried. Total nitrogen (TN), total carbon (TC), and total organic carbon (TOC) were measured using an Element Analyzer (EA, HEKAtech). TOC was determined after acidifying the sample with 0.25 M HCl and 1M HCl up to 4 times and heating at 40°C until all carbonate was removed. CaCO3 contents were calculated from total inorganic carbon (TIC; the difference of TC and TOC) and the molecular weight ratio of CaCO3 to CO32- (8.3333).
