High means enough gas to give active bubbling and to pop off end caps. Medium means that some gas pressure developed after the core was sectioned and stood at room temperature. Low means no visible signs of gas, but sampling of gas in the core liner did show the presence of methane; this often occurred with poor recovery and very fractured cores.
