The research focuses on the High School of Petra Lesvos during the period of the April dictatorship (1967-¬1974). The purpose of this paper is to answer questions about the policy of the dictatorship in the field of education, the role reserved for the regime in school and teachers, the similarities and differences in relation to the policy pursued in this field in the past. years. Other questions that arise are whether the dictatorship's policy was aimed solely at reforming the school or whether the school had to play a role in reforming the local community. How did the actors - teachers and students - respond to this ideology? Were there any reactions to the dictatorship's orders? The first and introductory part of the work mentions the topic and purpose of the work, the method followed for the collection and processing of the material and the course of the research. The second part refers to the historical context of the time and the important events of the seven years, with emphasis on the ideology of the time and the role that dictatorship gave to education. The following is a brief account of Lesvos during the dictatorship. The third part of the work, which was based on the study of the archival material of the Gymnasium of Petra and material from interviews of students and teachers of the time, describes the history of the foundation of the Gymnasium and presents data on its operation during the dictatorship. Emphasis is placed on issues such as the purpose of the school, the school as a propaganda mechanism and promotion of the work of dictatorship, the promotion of the ideology of dictatorship in school, rules for students and teachers, extracurricular control of students and punishments, changes after the fall of the dictatorship. The following are the conclusions, the bibliography and the appendices. The first appendix lists the questionnaires used in the interviews and the second appendix documents from the school archive.
