We will investigate a series of amorphised zeolitic solids and determine the short and medium range order structures and more importantly the nature of pore-size when we go from crystalline solid to an amorphous material. For this purpose we will use NIMROD which has the unique feature of measuring SANS and diffraction which when Fourier transformed will provide the necessary information on the nature of the short and medium range order and the pore structure of the amorphous material. We will carry out a systematic study of zeolite Y, Zeolite A and Silicalite which will be heated at specific temperature to yield the amorphous part of the solid, which we believe based on the previous experiments produces low and high density glass material. This information is vital in uderstanding the phase transformation and correlate with physical properties.
