Materials which displays exotic electronic states are of great interest to fundamental science, such as the quantum spin-liquids which were theorised to behave like a sea of resonating spin states that has no preferential ordering, analogous to the liquid state. The best candidate materials for these are kagome magnets where the atomic magnetic moments make up a vertex sharing lattice of triangles. Few materials with the kagome lattice are known and thus it is always of interest when a new one is found. Here, we present a new kagome material KCu2.5V2O7(OD)2.D2O for investigation with powder diffraction on WISH. Magnetic ordering of the kagome-material vesignieite was recently observed on this beamline and similarities in the magnetic susceptibility of these two related materials suggest that the experiment could help us understand in greater detail their complex spin states.
