UAV based orthomosaics and ice surface models from the ArcWatch-2 Expedition

Here we present 10 orthomosaics and 13 Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) acquired from UAV surveys during the ArcWatch-2 (PS144) Polarstern Expedition. The data were acquired between 2024-08-16 and 2024-09-26 during 10 ice stations when the vessel was moored to larger ice floes. While most of the surveys were conducted with a camera drone 3 DEMs originate from UAV LiDAR surveys. All DEMs and orthomosaics were drift corrected and referenced to local GNSS stations resulting in vertical accuracies between 0.23 and 0.03 m. The latter largely depend on the conducted flight patterns and prevailing environmental conditions.

We provide one zip file per ice station including orthomosaics and DEMs of the respective ice station in GeoTiff file format. The reference time of each dataset is indicated in the filename. If the DEM data originate from a UAV LiDAR survey this is also indicated in the filename.
