This dataset comprises sedimentary bulk contents of major elements (Total Organic Carbon (TOC), Aluminum (Al), Titanium (Ti), and Phosphorus (P) and trace elements Uranium (U), Barium (Ba), Nickel (Ni), and Zirconium (Zr)) obtained from both marine sediment cores and hinterland samples from Namibia. The marine cores were collected during research cruises AHAB04 and AHAB05 (March 2004) and M76/2 (May 2008) in the Benguela Upwelling System. Hinterland samples were collected from fine-grained outcrops in the Tsauchab River Valley near Sossusvlei and wet-sieved into grain-size fractions 63 µm. Total carbon and total inorganic carbon were measured using a carbon/sulfur analyzer (ELTRA CS 580), and TOC was calculated as the difference between total carbon and total inorganic carbon. Aluminum, Ti, P, Zr, U, Ba, Ni were analyzed via wavelength-dispersive X-ray fluorescence analysis (Panalytical Axios Plus). All marine samples were corrected for sea salt. Additional TOC data were obtained from Emeis and Lahajnar (2015; https://doi.org/10.1594/PANGAEA.854051) and Emeis (2015; https://doi.org/10.1594/PANGAEA.854074). The TOC data from these studies presented here were also corrected for sea salt. This contribution provide high-resolution geochemical profiles for the reconstructions of sediment provenance, grain-size effects and depositional conditions on the southeastern Atlantic margin. More analytical details are given in Gäng et al. (2023): https://doi.org/10.1016/j.gca.2023.03.015.
