Spin excitations in Na0.44MnO2

DOI

We propose to measure the spin fluctuations in Na0.44MnO2 using the MARI chopper spectrometer. Na0.44MnO2 is derived from alpha-NaMnO2 and is a tunnelled structure. Preliminary data on DCS has shown that the low-energy excitations (up to 10 meV) has two components. The upper gapped component looks remarkably similar to the excitations previously measured in alpha-NaMnO2 and we propose to measure these over the entire spin-wave band using MARI.
