SARS-CoV-2 Genomic Surveillance in Greece

During this study we intend to collect and sequence SARS-CoV-2 representative genomes of the virus from the 1st and 2nd wave of the pandemic from all over Greece in order to carry out large-scale comparative analysis and in-depth study of the phylogenetic evolution of the virus in the Greek population. We will also perform the genomic surveillance of the virus in Greece during and after vaccination of the population, with the aim to early detection of possible mutations that could potentially reduce the effectiveness of vaccines and / or the specificity of rapid antigen tests (rapid tests).
