Microbial diversity in geothermal sites of Deception Island volcano, Antarctica

The objective of this study is to understand how microbial community structure is shaped by extreme gradients of temperature, salinity and geochemical settings at Deception Island volcano. For this purpose, we analyzed sediment samples associated with fumaroles and glaciers from two geothermal sites in Deception, comprising temperatures between 0 and 98 °C.
