The present study aims at gathering detailed information on the cisplatin-DNA interaction, particularly with the purine bases, by Inelastic Neutron Scattering spectroscopy, in view of achieving a complete understanding of this interplay at the molecular level, which is the basis for the drug´s growth-inhibitory and cytotoxic effect. Also, the effect of glutathione on cisplatin´s pharmacokinetics will be evaluated. The results thus obtained will be analysed in the light of theoretical information and optical vibrational spectroscopic data available for these systems, and will constitute the basis for similar studies on new cisplatin-like anticancer compounds.
