Southern Ocean Metagenome

The aim of the project study was to investigate the Microbial diversity and species distribution across adjacent warm and cold core eddies within in the Antarctic Polar Frontal Zone. Eddies formed in the Southern Ocean play an important role in the biogeochemistry of the upper ocean and associated carbon fluxes. The projects main objectives are: 1. to carry out, microbial community profiling among different sites of warm and cold core eddies. 2. To analyze the species diversity abundance among the sampling sites of two eddies to evaluate its physiological role. 3. To perform comparative analysis of eddy samples along with other previously defined Southern Ocean microbiome to describe and delineate Eddy Microbial Ecosystem.
