We aim to investigate a possible orbiton mode in CaV2O4. In this compound the spin, lattice and orbital degrees of freedom are highly coupled with similar energy scales, and orbital ordering is expected which strongly influences the exchange interactions. We have observed a dispersive mode with INS at base temperature which is neither a spin-wave nor a phonon and which we conjecture is a collective orbital excitation. Here we propose a more detailed investigation at several temperatures to determine its origin.
