Sample collection was performed in the area near Dadeng Island (the natural habitat of the green mussel P. viridis), Fujian Province, China. These samples were analyzed for microbial composition through 16S rRNA gene high-throughput sequencing. We investigated the microbiota of the green mussel Perna viridis at the tissue scale and compared the results with the microbiota of the surrounding environment.
