Consideration of climate change impacts in the planning of new urban districts - Hamburg's HafenCity and Grasbrook: Adapting to the consequences of climate c avert economic damage, reduce health risks, hange is one of the tasks of sustainable urban planning. The aim is to protect water resources and promote biodiversity. The city can use various instruments to influence the actions of private owners and coordinate measures in public areas, particularly when planning new neighbourhoods. The key challenge at present is to combine individual measures that have been tried and tested in pilot projects to deal with the consequences of climate change into overall concepts, turn them into standard solutions and transfer them into planning routines. In the HafenCity and Grasbrook districts developed by HafenCity Hamburg GmbH, a sustainability certificate is being used for the consistent implementation of suitable measures at building level. In Grasbrook, a water management plan supports the implementation of a near-natural water balance.
