Eighty-four microsatellite loci were isolated from red snapper, Lutjanus campechanus, in a targeted search conducted on Illumina paired-end raw reads. The archived data include the illumina raw reads (read 1 and read 2) that contain the repeat arrays for which pcr primers were successfully designed and optimized.
