UAS-based micro-scale surface texture for different generations of the coastal alluvial fan Guanillos, Atacama Desert

DOI

This dataset contains two micro-scale surface roughness measures - the standard deviation of slope (StdSlo) and the Vector Ruggedness Measure (VRM) - of the coastal alluvial fan Guanillos (GUA) in northern Chile (21.97°S, 70.17°W). Both roughness measures are derived from 5 cm digital elevation models (DEM) constructed based on surveys using an unmanned aerial system (UAS). Surface texture is quantified for three spatial scales of ca. 1 m, 2 m, and 3 m. Restricted to detailed areas of interest (AOI), the calculated spectral ratios are attributed to the four alluvial fan surface generations, or morphostratigraphic units, Q1 to Q4. Results are stored in an individual .csv table for each surface roughness measure.
