The current package contains the data from a qualitative diary study conducted with 8 Italian young adults, users of mobile dating apps, between October 2021 and January 2022. Participants responded to an initial online survey to schedule a first interview (10'), where they were instructed on how to conduct the one-month diary, followed by an interview of about 1 hour. For each participant, we summarised the answers to the recruitment questionnaire and notes from the initial interview, if participants had shared experiences with mobile dating apps and other relevant testimonies. Diary entries were copied from the chat and organised in a single file containing all text, images, and transcriptions of voice notes. For further anonymization, images were replaced with a written description. Follow-up interviews were recorded, transcribed verbatim, and saved in a single text file; then we created participant-specific files (.docx) collating the notes from the recruitment survey and initial interview, and the transcription of the diary and follow-up interview. This research received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement No. 945413 and from the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV).
