The novel falls into the category of psycho-social reflection of society. The story complex is made up of two main characters, Tomo, a social worker, and Adi, a pensioner who cannot get a pension and is a social supporter. Tomo, otherwise known as Tomaž, has a turbulent divorce and is worried about how he will manage to raise his minor daughter Mija. At the same time, the story of Mr. Adi, who is 70 years old and teeters on the edge of existence, despite having a solid education, but unfortunately he loved to live and travel, but did not have a permanent existence. Therefore, the novel serves up interesting subplots: an affair with one of the sailors - Adi was also a sailor, and interesting guys who found themselves in the port, as well as his philosophical notes, thoughts and reading stories - he is passionate about fiction. The plot about a mild heart attack shows the hospital atmosphere and problems in healthcare.
