DOI

This dataset was developed within the doctoral research entitled “Impact of the 2021 Flood Disaster on Human Social and Mental Health, Focusing on Older Adults in the Ahr Valley in Germany.” The research investigates the social and mental health impacts of the 2021 Ahr Valley flood disaster on older adults, with particular attention to vulnerability and resilience factors during disaster response and recovery processes.

The primary data were collected to address research objectives in chapter 3 and 4 and consist of mixed-methods empirical materials collected in the Ahr Valley, Germany. Quantitative survey data were collected from flood-affected and non-flooded individuals, including older adults aged 65 years and above. Qualitative data include semi-structured interviews and group discussions with older residents, interview with healthcare professionals and social work volunteers. Participants were selected through purposeful and snowball sampling methods to capture diverse experiences and perspectives related to disaster impacts and recovery.

In compliance with ethical approval procedures, informed consent was obtained from all participants prior to data collection. To protect privacy and confidentiality, all archived data were anonymized, and personally identifiable information was removed from the dataset.
