Dataset for: 'Preprocessing Eye-Tracking Data for Reading: A Community Survey on Practices, Challenges, and Needs'

DOI

This dataset contains the results of a community survey on preprocessing workflows, challenges, and needs in eye-tracking research, with a particular focus on reading research. The survey (N = 108) assessed current preprocessing practices, tool usage, documentation strategies, and expectations regarding preprocessing tools, pipelines, and reusable data outputs. The dataset includes the raw survey responses, a response code listing, a variable overview, a codebook describing all variables, the full survey questionnaire, and the categorizations of open-text responses, which were manually coded by the research team. The data can be used to explore current practices in eye-tracking preprocessing, identify common challenges, and inform the development of tools, standards, and FAIR-oriented workflows.
