The aim of the study was to analyze a broad transcriptomic dataset of the Antarctic eelpout and compare it to other marine fish, inhabiting different temperature realms to find patterns for thermal adaptation and evolutionary trends in the codon- and amino acid usage. Specimens of P. brachycephalum were caught with baited traps during an expedition ANTXV/3 with the RV "Polarstern" close to the Antarctic Peninsula.
