These data are the result of a large historical investigation conducted in archives: Departmental archives of Moselle, Departmental archives of Meurthe-et-Moselle, Departmental archives of Vosges, Municipal archives of Nancy, Municipal archives of Metz, German Federal Institute of Hydrology, LOTERR archives, Banque Hydro and water management services archives (DREAL Grand Est).
These files provide maximum annual peak flow series of the Moselle River at Custines, Metz Pont-des-Morts, Uckange and Cochem over the last two centuries. Indeed, historical water level data of the Moselle River were recently brought to light. These hydrometric archives give the opportunity to extend time scale window of instrumental flow series to provide an extensive and original reconstructed flood dataset for the Moselle basin.
