Search for incommensurate spin excitation in BaFe1.904Ni0.096As2

Motivated by the observation of incommensure magnetic order in Ba(Fe1-xCox)2As2, we have recently grown BaFe2-xNixAs2 crystals with systematic electron doping level especially around optimal doping with x=0.10. Our neutron diffraction measurements near (0.5, 0.5, 3) found clear incommensurate magnetic peaks in BaFe1.904Ni0.096As2 compound.Further investigation shows this incommensurate AFM order has relatively short correlation length and is coupled directly with superconductivity. Since the superconducting electron pairing will open a spin gap in the excitations spectra, it is important to explore the low-energy spin excitations and see how the incommensurate SDW order is related to spin excitations and superconductivity. Thus we propose to do inelastic neutron scattering experiment to search for incommensurate magnetic excitations order in this compound.
