We sequenced adult and neonate venom gland transcriptomes of the yellow-bellied sea snake Pelamis platura (also known as Hydrophis platura), with Illumina in order to obtain an ontogenetic comparison of toxin expression.</p><p>Putative age-dependent post-transcriptional regulation mediated by miRNA was also analyzed.</p><p>Our research shed light over the expression of venom constituents of a widely widespread sea snake.
