Mixed micelles with "green" surfactants

DOI

This proposal aims to explore aqueous phase structures and compositions of a series of mixed surfactants. Although standard surfactant mixtures have been extensively studied e.g. 1-3, little is known about mixing behaviour of new 21st century ¿green¿ surfactants, which are the focus of this proposal. In this respect, the proposed study of biocompatible/renewable/natural resource surfactants (see Figure 1), alone and in combination with standard compounds (SDS or cationic Geminis), would be unique. In addition, composition of these mixed micelles will be determined by use of appropriate D/H surfactant combinations, using the protocol developed by Penfold et al. 3
