H+/Li+ exchange and Al/In substitutions in garnet-type Li ion conductors

DOI

In this work, we will examine the dopant site location, and Li distribution in cubic and In/Al doped La3Zr2Li7O12, which have been shown to display high Li ion conductivities (>10-4 Scm-1 at room temperature). In addition to their high Li ion conductivities, ready H+/Li+ exchange has been demonstrated in such garnet systems, although the location of the H+ site has yet to be determined. Therefore, in this experiment, we also aim to determine the structures of a range of H/D exchanged garnet samples, with a view to identifying which Li sites are preferentially exchanged, as well as the location of the H/D within the structure.
