INS study of propane/propene separation using non-charged ITQ-29 Zeolites as selective adsorbent

DOI

Zeolites are perhaps the most successful microporous materials used for catalysis and separation processes in refineries and chemical industries[1-3]. This is due to the presence of structural channel systems of dimension very close to many widely used chemicals.[4,5]. Also, zeolites provide a very high thermal and chemical stability and the possibility of fine tuning their adsorption and catalytic properties. Because of these possibilities, zeolites have been claimed as possible candidates for carrying out the separation of propene from propane/propene mixtures which is one of the most interesting separation processes in refineries [6]. Indeed, currently this separation is performed by cryogenic distillation resulting in one of the most energy demanding process in the whole refinery [7]. We will study zeolite properties in the propane/propene separation for new Zeolite material ITQ-29
