This Mikrozensus survey is on the topics job change and job seeking The last survey on job seeking had been conducted in June 1978 (Mikrozensus MZ7802). It is generally well known it is no longer possible that people carry on the profession they had learned until their retirement. Again and again one hears of retraining, life-long learning and similar terms and more and more employees notice that in some jobs and branches possibilities have become scarce in comparison to previous decades. Mobility and flexibility have become a necessity. The last survey on job seeking had been conducted in September 1986 (Mikrozensus MZ8603). Due to remaining, although not increasing, problems on the labour market such regular special surveys have become important. Apart from the comparability with data on unemployed persons form the labour market administration and in addition to the Mikrozensus basic program, this special program provides additional information that cannot be found in an administration statistic.
