The Neutron Scattering Spin Resonance: A probe of the momentum structure of the superconducting gap in the Fe-based superconductors

DOI

We propose to use MERLIN to examine the full magnetic excitation spectrum Chi¿(q,w) of optimally doped Fe based superconductor BaFe1.84Co0.16As2. The primary goal of this experiment is to search for additional signatures of spin resonance occurring at different q than the previously observed resonance at (pi,0). These measurements might help to resolve an important question regarding of the existence or absence of nodes in the superconducting gap.
