Magnetic fluctuations in the ferromagnetic Mott insulator Yb2V2O7

We have investigated spin excitations in Lu2V2O7 on MERLIN in this cycle and it would be interesting to investigate how the spin excitations change when one have magnetic ion in place of Lu. Yb2V2O7 is a member of the Mott insulating ferromagnetic pyrochlores, which exhibits very interesting physical properties. Our aim is to see if the Magnon Hall effect is present in this compound, and to develop a microscopic understanding of the magnetism on the 3d and 4f sites by investigating excitations on MERLIN. This proposal on Yb2V2O7 forms a part of the PhD research programme of Mattia Mena.
