Spin excitations in the superconducting FeTe0.6Se0.4

DOI

The FeTe1-xSex series exhibits superconductivity over a broad range of doping. Previously we have made extensive neutron scattering measurements on superconducting x = 0.49 and nonsuperconducting x = 0.27 single crystals. These measurements revealed incommensurate magnetic excitations emanating from a wave vector near (0.5 0.5 0). In the ¿Horace¿ scan, performed on the nonsuperconducting sample we unexpectedly found a new magnetic mode dispersing out of (0,0,L) point that perhaps indicate on the presence of FM correlations in this sample. The goal of the proposed experiments is determine whether or not this excitations exist in superconducting sample and compare comprehensive four-dimensional Chi¿(Q,w) for the superconducting (x = 0.4) and nearly magnetic, nonsuperconducting (x = 0.27) samples.
