protevs GIB20 - camarinal sill

DOI

A new extensive field experiment, PROTEVS GIB20, was performed in the Strait of Gibraltar in October 2020 on the R/V "L'Atalante". Part of this experiment was dedicated to observe the high frequency dynamics developed near Camarinal Sill (Strait of Gibraltar), considered as a mixing hotspot of the region. This data set contains exclusively the data associated to this specific region in the Strait of Gibrlatar. It consists of ADCP (current) moorings and hydrological (temperature/salinity) mooring lines, acoutics with tow MVP sections acros the Sill and one station with three CTD Casts. During the whole campaign the current is continuously measured with the OS 38kHz and OS 150kHz VMADCP looking down from the hull of the research vessel. The data are averaged in 1 minute frames. SIMRAD EK60 echosounder observations were also recorded at 3 different frequencies, 200kHz, 38kHz and 12kHz. The 38kHz is provided here as the best compromised between range and resolution.
