Induction for POLARIS; first in-beam test

DOI

An induction furnace has been developed for POLARIS. It has been tested at ISIS for 3 month during which it has passed all safety test required to be tested in beam. Currently the furnace can heat a sample to >1000 degree celsius in less than 5 minutes while only delivering 650 W of power input. The Tompkinson flange for the setup has now been finished and we are ready to start testing the equipment.
