Deetect: a deep learning based image analysis tool for quantification of adherent cell populations on oxygenator membranes after extracorporeal membrane oxygenation therapy

A phosphorylcholine-coated (PC) polymethylpentene (PMP)-MOs (Maquet PLS-I) was examined for cell colonization after long-term patient support (>24h) using confocal laser scanning microscopy (Leica SP5/40X) and fluorescence staining of adhering cells via 4',6-Diamidino-2-phenylindol (DAPI). The cell colonization was found to be localized at certain predilection sites: hollow fibers and hollow-fiber connecting warps.
