Ecology and Evolution of Vesicomyid endosymbionts

The chemosynthetic symbionts associated with the deep-sea vesicomyid clams represent an excellent model to study the role of symbionts in niche partitioning and the molecular processes at play following host restriction and speciation. This comparative genomics project will look at both the ecology and evolution of 11 clam endosymbiont species.
