Acoustic data was generated using a Sonic 2026 multibeam sonar system pole-mounted on the SY Vagabond between Aug. 24 and Sept. 11, 2020. This bathymetric dataset covers the SE coast of Ellesmere Island in Jones Sound. The dataset consists of high-resolution bathymetry collected whenever the ship was in transit. Standard collection settings used highest frequency possible (function of depths – 90 – 450 kHz), auto depth mode, angular coverage of +/- 60 degrees and ultra high density equidistant beam forming (1024 beams per ping). The QPS Qinsy software was used to collect the data.
Data processing and cleaning was done using QPS Qimera software. Data was exported in geotiff (.geotif). IMU data was parsed by Qinsy from a R2Sonic Integrated Inertial Navigation System (I2NS) Type 1 – 0,01º. Sound speed information was either from RBR Maestro CTD casts or simulated from the World Ocean Atlas 2009 database. Data are gridded at a resolution of 10 metres. Grid files and cruise reports are available upon request to Gabriel Joyal (gabriel.joyal@cgq.qc.ca) or Andrew Hamilton (akhamilt@ualberta.ca).
