Dissolved organic carbon (DOC) in deep-sea pore waters from multi corer SO268/1_74-1, central equatorial Pacific Ocean

DOI

Samples for dissolved organic carbon (DOC, <0.2 µm) in deep-sea pore waters from the Clarion Clipperton Zone, German and Belgian license areas for polymetallic nodule mining in the Pacific Ocean, were collected with a multicorer in 2019 during cruise SO268. Samples were obtained at 1 to 2 cm intervals for the upper ca. 26 cm of sediment through centrifugation and filtration through 0.2 µm PES syringe filters. Non-purgeable organic carbon (NPOC) was measured with a high temperature combustion method using a multi N/C 2100S (Analytik Jena). The final DOC concentration is reported as the average of duplicate measurements. The data set complements trace metal work to assess the impact of sediment disturbances on trace metal fluxes, therefore disturbed and undisturbed sites were studied.
