GPS Ice motion beacon data - ArcticNet 2011 - South Beaufort Sea

GPS equipment disposal ice motion beacons constructed/developed by Canatec Associates International Ltd. (www.canatec.ca) were deployed on different types of sea ice by either small boat or helicopter. Hourly location data was transmitted using Iridium data burst modems from NAL. The email data (attachments) were received at the University of Manitoba. Ice motion beacons were left on the ice, and assumed to have sunk when data transmission ceased. Ice floes sampled included thick first-year ridges, large multi-year ice floes, and ice island fragments.
