Ten days (18.-28.03.2014) continuous recordings from a surface-facing Simrad EK60 echosounder (38 and 200 kHz) moored at 885 m depth near Thuwal in the central Red Sea

DOI

A Simrad EK60 echosounder (38 and 200 kHz) was deployed on the bottom (885 m depth) in the central Red Sea near Thuwal for 10 days (18.-28.03.2014). The echosounder continuously recorded water column backscatter with a time resolution of around 0.5 pings s-1 to monitor the movement and abundance of scattering layers and individuals over depth and time. The data set consists of 359 raw echosounder files (35.44 GB) with file sizes between 0.7 and 168 MB.
