Field measurements of sea-ice thickness, snow depth, freeboard and sub-ice platelet-layer thickness on the land-fast ice of Atka Bay in 2013

DOI

We measured sea-ice thickness, snow depth, freeboard and sub-ice platelet-layer thickness by repeated drill-hole measurements between April 2013 and January 2014 at six stations distributed evenly over a transect along Atka Bay. At each measurement location, up to 5 holes were drilled through the sea ice in order to determine the aforementioned parameters, one in the center and one in a distance of five meters in each direction.
