Krakow cinemas during the war

In 1987, Jerzy Semilski (1921-2005) and Jerzy Toeplitz (1909-1995) published a book based on the notes made during the war by Jerzy Semilski, who lived in Krakow during the occupation (Jerzy Semilski, Jerzy Toeplitz, Owoc zakazany [Forbidden Fruits] (Kraków: Dyskusyjny Klub Filmowy „Kinematograf”: [Cinematograph Film Discussion Club], 1987)). Semilski documented the film programming of ten Krakow cinemas during Second World War. In preparation of a symposium on movie-going during World War II, the programming data have been extracted and made available as structured data in a cooperation between Polish film scholar Andrzej Dębski from the Willy Brandt Centre at the University of Wroclaw and Ivan Kisjes and Thunnis van Oort from the CREATE digital humanities project at the University of Amsterdam. Below, we have briefly documented the process of digitising the data.
