Interview in het kader van promotieonderzoek (2012-2017) naar de omgang met door mensen en landbouwhuisdieren gedeelde infectieziekten ('zoönosen') in Nederland gedurende de twintigste eeuw, in het bijzonder met betrekking tot de casus BSE (1988-2001) in dat onderzoek. Het interview gaat niet alleen over Bovine Spongiforme Encefalopathie (BSE) / 'gekkekoeienziekte', maar ook over de professionele loopbaan van prof. dr. Ruitenberg in het algemeen en zijn werk bij het RIVM en het CLB.
