The project 'Interação Plataforma Continental-Estuário da Lagoa dos Patos - PLATES' established a series of phases for data acquisition from 1992 to 1993. Sampled information consisted of salinity, temperature, current speed and direction and SPM. A series of weekly SPM sampling expeditions in the Rio Grande Channel from March 1992 to January 1993 is presented here. 45 weekly samples were collected at 5 stations along the narrowest section of the navigational channel (about 750 m) of the Patos Lagoon Estuary. Samples were obtained at surface and bottom, filtered using a vacuum pump, and measured following the method described by Aminot and Chaussepied (Aminot, A. and Chaussepied, M.: Manuel des Analyses Chimiques en milieu Matin, CNEXO, Bres, p. 396, 1983).
