Stable isotope ratios of plankton samples from the Iberian Peninsula

DOI

Note, that each size-fraction is a mixture of different plankton types (and even contain non-living organic matter). Phytoplankton is most likely to be dominant in the 200 µm fractions. Cruises from 1999-2003: plankton net 30 cm diameter, 20 µm mesh, vertical hauls 0-100 m (or less if bottom<100 m), size fractionation using net sieves (20, 200, 500, 1000 and 2000 µm mesh), fraction <20 µm = Glass fibre GF/F filtration of surface water (continuous supply of clean surface water). Cruises in 2004: plankton net 30 cm diameter, 40 µm mesh size (fraction 40-200 µm) and 50 cm diameter, 200 µm mesh size (fractions 200-2000 µm), vertical hauls 0-100 m (or less if bottom depth <100 m), size fractionation using net sieves (20, 200, 500, 1000 and 2000 µm mesh), fraction <20 µm = Glass fibre GF/F filtration of surface water (continuous supply of clean surface water). Cruise Capricornio: plankton net 200 µm mesh (no size fractionation), fraction <20 µm = Glass fibre GF/F filtration of surface water.
