Udhruh Oral History Project Interview 7

Interview with ‘Aiyd Rfiyfaan. He knows the history of this area and tells about the first settlement of the Aljazi family in Udhruh around 1960. The castra was used in the past to keep animals, some people lived there and it was used as a school. There was a lot of water and trees in the area, but it changed and now there is almost no agriculture anymore. Therefore also the lifestyle changed. A huge earthquake destroyed the castle. At the east-side there is a church. The archaeoloy of Udhruh deserves more attention as a tourist destination and should become part of the legend of Petra. Bedouin heritage is related to family, customs and traditions. Not to a place, because we travel and are not connected to one place.
