Thermokarst lakes = surrounded by peat plateau along >75% of the shoreline. For all study sites the changes in lake area were statistically significant (p < 0.001), except for in the 2 km × 2 km area in Rogovaya (p = 0.63). Here, it could not be calculated as fen vegetation was difficult to identify in the aerial photographs.
